St Mary, Port Douglas

2 Endeavour Street

This is the only Catholic church in Port Douglas; do not confuse it with “old St Mary’s by the Sea”.

(C) = St Mary Church
(A) = St Andrew’s Anglican Church
(S) = Port Douglas Primary School
(I) = Cornett’s Supa IGA store
(H) = Wildlife Habitat

The church is about 6 kilometers (4 miles) from the Port Douglas business centre, but we assist people without cars to return to their accommodation or to go to town after mass. At the end of mass we ask anyone wanting assistance to identify themselves, and lifts are promptly arranged.

Getting there by bus:
A local shuttle bus service runs every 30 mintues (beginning at 7am) from the Marina Mirage to the Wildlife Habitat. There is a track from there to the church, but it can become very boggy during the wet season. The bus detours to the church if you tell the driver you wish to go there.

Getting there by car:
Follow St Crispins Avenue from Port Douglas Road, or turn from Port Douglas Road at the round-about into Agincourt Street (first left from the Highway, last right from town), go to the end and turn left into St Crispins Avenue, go to the end and turn left into Endeavour Street, go to the end -- as shown by the red line on the map above.

Getting there by foot:
You can walk from the carpark between the Habitat and IGA, but the track becomes boggy during the wet season. For walkers heading along Agincourt Street, it is faster to turn into Udine Street, and right into Ribbon Avenue, at the end of which there is a path to Endeavour Street and the church driveway: follow the blue line in the map above.
